District Mission

The mission of District 13 is to enhance the performance and extend the network of Clubs, thereby offering greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from the Toastmasters educational program by:

  • Focusing on the critical success factors as specified by the District educational goals and membership goals.
  • Insuring that each Club effectively fulfills its responsibilities to its members.
  • Providing effective training and leadership development opportunities for Club and District officers.

World Champion of Public Speaking is coming to Pittsburgh!
Many of you would remember the 2005 World Champion of Public Speaking, Lance Miller, who visited our district two years ago.

Lance will be in Pittsburgh on Thursday, May 1, and is scheduled to speak at the Allegheny Ludlum Toastmasters Club at noon. All Toastmaters are invited to attend Lance’s presentation.

RSVP is required by April 30 to Kathy Oliver, DTM. There will be a nominal charge to cover lunch.

District 13 Spring 2008 Conference
May 2-3, 2008
Holiday Inn, Green Tree, Pennsylvania

The conference is coming fast and furious and I am getting more and more excited with each and every day. What a line up we have!!! Check it out...

Special guest speakers include the 2007 World Champion of Public Speaking, Vikas Jhingran.

Saturday workshops include:

  • Setting up your own FREETOASTHOST Website!
  • Growing your Club across the Generation gap!
  • Informal Mentoring Tips!
  • How to Effectively Judge Contests!
  • And more to be announced!!!

Our International Director, Gary Mull, will be participating in Friday Fun night! Speaking of Friday night, our Fantastic Friday Fun Night Chairperson, Patrice Walters, has lined up a night you won't soon forget!!!!

And let's not forget the District 13 EVALUATION and INTERNATIONAL Speech Contests!

Finally, we will be electing and installing our new leaders for the 2008- 009 Toastmasters year. You won't want to miss it!!!

Oh, and there is one more thing ... Party the rest of Saturday night (9pm to Midnight) with Big Mike Karaoke!!!!

Along with our 50/50 Raffle, we will be holding a Silent Auction as well as a Basket Raffle on Saturday, May 3.

District Executive Council Meeting
District Executive Council Meetings are open to all members of the District. Club and District Officers are strongly encouraged to attend the council meeting.

We will also be electing District 13 Leaders for our 2008–2009 Toastmasters year.

Club Presidents and Vice Presidents of Education are voting members of the District Executive Council. Be sure to stop by the Credentials Desk upon arrival at the conference to pick up your ballots.

If you will not be attending the council meeting, you may proxy your votes to an officer or member of your club who will be attending. See the links below for more information.
